Story told by June as follows:
We started doing this at the ShipInn…having Staff Christmas parties. We used to have them on a Sunday night because the session finished at 7pm and everyone could come. We did this at every pub we had. Kevin would always make the punch. He’s mix it up in a big container and we’d fill the punchbowl…the glass bowl with the little plastic hooks to hang the matching cups off the edge of it. Everyone loved it and always talked about Kevin’s punch!
We put on Jan and Bill’s (Mum’s niece) Wedding Breakfast at the “Inter”(International Hotel – Boundary St)…Glen would have been about 12 or 13 and he was helping serve food and drinks…I don’t know if it was the punch or not but someone came and told us that he was drunk…he’d been helping himself to drinks….we took him upstairs and put him under a cold shower and put him to bed.
